From Our Homestead to Georgia Grown: A Pretty Special Milestone
There are moments in a small business when you stop, look around and think:
How in the world did we get here?
This is one of those moments.
Mother’s Love Homestead has been selected to have products represented in the Georgia Grown Store at the Georgia National Fair in Perry.
And typing that still feels a little surreal.
Because these products didn’t begin in a conference room. They began here, on our little homestead in Americus, Georgia.
They began with ideas scribbled down while something else was probably baking. With ingredients spread across a worktable. With test batches that worked beautifully—and plenty that absolutely did not.
They began with us asking the same question we still ask before putting the Mother’s Love Homestead heart on anything:
Would we be proud to use this in our own home or give it to someone we love?
Small Beginnings Matter
Mother’s Love Homestead was never supposed to become a factory. That isn’t what we’re building.
We want to make thoughtful things in small batches, using traditional skills and good ingredients whenever we can.
That means some days we’re baking with Myrtle. Other days we’re making goat milk soap, filling tallow jars, designing labels, packing orders or standing over a worktable wondering why something looked much easier when we planned it. 😉
And somewhere in the middle of all that ordinary work, something extraordinary happened.
A few of those products are now getting ready to represent our little South Georgia homestead on a much bigger stage.
What Georgia Grown Means to Us
There is something special about seeing the words Georgia Grown beside a product made here.
We aren’t trying to hide where we come from. Quite the opposite.
We’re proud of Americus. We’re proud of South Georgia. We’re proud that some of what we sell begins with animals we care for, ingredients we work with ourselves, recipes we’ve developed and products handled by real people from beginning to end.
This came from here.
And we think that matters.
There Is a Lot Behind One Finished Product
By the time you see a finished Mother’s Love Homestead product sitting neatly on a shelf, you don’t see everything that happened before it got there.
You don’t see the test batches, the labels that didn’t print correctly, the recipe adjustments, the packaging decisions, the UPCs, the paperwork—or the workroom that looked like a small tornado had passed through it five minutes earlier.
You just see the finished piece.
But we know what’s behind it. And that’s part of why this milestone means so much.
If You’re Heading to Perry…
Please look for us.
Knowing someone walked into the Georgia Grown Store at the fair, spotted that little Mother’s Love Homestead heart and thought, “Hey! I know them!” would absolutely make our day.
And if you’ve supported us from the beginning—whether you’ve bought a loaf, picked up a jar, shared a post, told a friend or simply encouraged us along the way—this milestone belongs a little bit to you too.
Small businesses don’t grow alone. People grow them.
So from our homestead to your home—and now from Americus to Perry—thank you.
We’re incredibly grateful for where this journey has taken us. And we’re pretty excited to see where it goes next.
With love from our South Georgia homestead,
Mary & Dan
Mother’s Love Homestead
