How to Store Tallow Products in Hot and Humid Weather

Updated: 3 days ago

Tallow products are naturally sensitive to temperature. In a hot, humid climate such as South Georgia, balms and creams may soften during shipping, in a parked vehicle, or near a sunny window.

Choose a cool storage spot

Keep jars, tins, and tubes away from direct sunlight, heat vents, stovetops, and steamy bathrooms. A bedroom cabinet or interior closet is often a better choice than a sunny countertop.

If a product softens

Set the container upright and move it to a cooler room. A short period in the refrigerator can help it firm again. Whipped products may lose some of their airy texture after warming, but the product can still be used when its appearance and scent remain normal.

Keep the container clean and dry

Use clean, dry hands or a small spatula and close the lid after each use. Keeping moisture out helps preserve the texture and quality of a waterless product.

Warm-weather care is mostly about preventing repeated heat exposure. Simple storage habits help small-batch tallow products stay at their best.
