What’s Growing at Mother’s Love Homestead This August

August in South Georgia still feels very much like summer, but around the homestead we can already feel the rhythm beginning to shift. The days are full, the kitchen is busy, the animals keep us grounded, and little by little we are preparing for the season ahead. It felt like the right time to share a glimpse of what is growing, baking, being made, and taking shape here at Mother’s Love Homestead.
The Bakehouse Keeps Its Rhythm
The Bakehouse continues to be one of the hearts of our homestead. Sourdough has a way of keeping you connected to time: feeding a starter, waiting for fermentation, mixing, resting, and letting good food become what it is meant to be without rushing it. Myrtle, our sourdough starter, is still at the center of that rhythm, whether she is helping us bake or being shared through our pantry mixes and dehydrated starter so other families can begin their own sourdough story at home.
Alongside sourdough, our small-batch pantry goods continue to grow into a part of Mother’s Love that we truly enjoy. From pancake and pizza crust mixes to our slowly steeped Madagascar vanilla, these are simple things meant to make home feel a little more homemade.
From the Herd to the Homestead Apothecary
Our goat milk soaps and tallow products are another reminder that the most meaningful products often begin close to home. Fresh goat milk, carefully rendered tallow, botanicals, oils, and other thoughtfully chosen ingredients become small batches made by hand rather than on an assembly line. We are always refining what we make, paying attention to texture, usefulness, packaging, and the experience of bringing something from our homestead into someone else’s home.
Homestead Glow Has Finally Stepped Into the Light
One of the biggest milestones of this summer has been the launch of our Homestead Glow Collection. This three-step facial skincare ritual spent months in development before we were ready to share it. Cleanse, treat, nourish: simple steps, small-batch ingredients, and a routine designed to feel intentional rather than complicated. Seeing something that lived in our kitchen and workroom for so long finally become a finished collection has been incredibly special.
That launch also reminded us why we keep doing things slowly. We would rather take the time to create something we are proud to put the Mother’s Love name on than rush to fill a shelf.
Growing Beyond the Farm Gate
We are especially grateful for the local shops and retail partners who make room for our small-batch goods and help introduce Mother’s Love Homestead to more families throughout our South Georgia community. Every shelf, conversation, referral, order, and return customer matters to a business our size. What may look like a single jar, loaf, bar, or gift set to someone passing by represents a whole chain of work here at home.
And Now, We’re Looking Toward Fall
Even in the August heat, fall is beginning to show up in our planning. We are thinking about cooler-weather baking, seasonal homestead favorites, useful and giftable bundles, and the kinds of small comforts people naturally reach for when the days begin to shorten. Fall on a homestead is not really a single launch date; it is a gradual turning of the season, and we are letting our fall collection grow the same way.
There is still plenty of summer left, plenty of work to do, and more ideas than hours in the day. But when we look around at how much Mother’s Love Homestead has grown, we are deeply grateful. Thank you for shopping small, reading our stories, visiting our local partners, sharing our products, and allowing this little South Georgia homestead to become part of your home.
Here’s to what is growing now—and to everything the next season will bring.
